Software Settings

Below you will find a list of software configuration settings and supported Exchange protocols.

Supported Protocols

  • MAPI – Outlook client connections to an Exchange mailbox sever (MBX).
  • IMAPS – Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird secure inbound email client connections to an Exchange Client Access Server (CAS).
  • SMTPS – Windows Mail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird secure outbound email client connections to an Exchange Client Access Server (CAS).
  • Outlook Web Access (OWA) – Browser based email connections to an Exchange Client Access Server (CAS).
  • Outlook Anywhere (RPC/HTTP) – Outlook client connections to an Exchange Client Access Server (CAS) for secure remote access without a VPN.
  • Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) – Windows Mobile device connections to an Exchange Client Access Server (CAS).

Configuration Settings

  • MAPI – mail.ufl.edu – mail server for campus workstation, cached mode should be used.
  • IMAP – imap.mail.ufl.edu – for incoming mail server for on campus workstation, requires SSL authentication.
  • SMTP – smtp.ufl.edu – for outgoing mail server on or off campus workstation, requires SSL authentication.
  • Outlook Web Access (OWA) – www.mail.ufl.edu 
  • EAS – mail.ufl.edu
  • hosted.spam.mail.ufl.edu:10020 – access Proofpoint spam filter controls
  • autodiscover.mail.ufl.edu – Exchange discovery services
